Taking Measurements and Adding Annotations in the Flash Viewer

UltraLinq allows you to add up to a total of six measurements and annotations to an image or paused clip in the Flash viewer. Access measurement and annotation tools by clicking in the Single view of the Clips & Stills tab on the Exam page.

Note: Pause clips before taking measurements and adding annotations.

The following measurement tools are available:

  • measures the distance between two points. Click and drag to draw a line.
  • measures the distance between an axis line (defined by DICOM) and the selected point on an M-mode image. This is used to place a point at the top or bottom of peaks.
  • measures the circumference and area of an ellipse. Click and drag to expand an ellipse.
  • measures the circumference and area of a closed free-form shape, allowing you to trace a region. Click and drag to draw the shape.

Click and then a measurement to select that measurement. Selected measurements can be adjusted by clicking and dragging or deleted by pressing the Delete key.

Click Clear to remove all measurements from the image or paused clip. Saved measurements cannot be cleared.

Click Save to save a copy of the image or paused clip with measurements to the exam. Once saved, all measurements are flattened onto the image or paused clip and cannot be removed. The saved copy can be found at the end of the exam's items.

Adding Annotations

The following annotation tools are available:

  • draws an arrow on the image.
  • masks part of the image with a black rectangle to anonymize patient information.
  • adds a text label to the image.

Click and then an annotation to select that annotation. Selected annotations can be adjusted by clicking and dragging or deleted by pressing the Delete key.

Click Clear to remove all annotations from the image or paused clip. Saved annotations cannot be cleared.

Click Save to save a copy of the image or paused clip with annotations to the exam. Once saved, all annotations are flattened onto the image or paused clip and cannot be removed. The saved copy can be found at the end of the exam's items.
